Journalists found out which games will suffer from the strike of voice actors – GTA VI is safe

The strike of the SAG-AFTRA trade union against gaming companies that began today, July 26, also affects Take-Two Interactive, but GTA VI, along with a number of other projects, will not fall victim to the protesters.

Kotaku journalist Ethan Gach, after searching a database of projects blocked by the SAG-AFTRA strike, found that union members have the right to work on GTA VI during the protests.

The representative of gaming companies negotiating with SAG-AFTRA, Audrey Cooling, at the request of Gach, separately confirmed that GTA VI is free from the consequences of the strike.

The SAG-AFTRA strike will not affect development of other projects entering production before September 2023, Cooling said. The same applies to service games like Fortnite and Apex Legends, but with a caveat.

If the strike continues for more than two months, SAG-AFTRA members’ work on these games will also be stopped. Companies will be forced to either turn to non-union actors or shelve future content.

Let us remember that SAG-AFTRA members went on strike because the union failed to reach an agreement with gaming companies on regulating the use of generative artificial intelligence in their products.

While the new strike will affect games that have recently entered production or are about to enter production, the development schedule of projects deep in the development process will not be affected by the protests.
