A group of modders, Team REVisited, presented a new gameplay trailer for Resident Evil Revisited, an ambitious global mod for the classic Resident Evil 2. The video was published by the Residence of Evil YouTube channel.
Resident Evil Revisited is a global mod with new locations, characters, storyline, puzzles, enemies and other content.
The new story will center on Victor Darius, also known as Trent, from the novels by American writer S. D. Perry based on the franchise. The hero works simultaneously for the Umbrella corporation and “The Agency” – a company from the Perry universe, based on an unnamed competitor to Umbrella from the game series (“The Agency” it is called only in the English localization of Resident Evil 2).
The action takes place before the events of the very first part of the series. In the story, Trent must obtain important data from the Spencer mansion and the laboratory located underneath it until the S.T.A.R.S. squad arrives on the scene.
Fans were delighted with the trailer. The creators were praised for the unusual choice of the main character, the variety of content and references to other old-school games (for example, they will add the Dryfield motel from Parasite Eve 2).
«I didn’t think I would live to see the moment when I would be more excited about the game from the fans than from Capcom,” wrote TheOmnimaru.
«It looks like it will be better than the remakes,” ShadowCthulhu noted. “The coolest projects are always made by fans.”
«One of the most interesting total conversions that I’m waiting for,” admitted BittyMERC.
Resident Evil Revisited does not yet have a release date. The authors will release a demo version in the near future. To use the mod you will need Resident Evil 2 in the Sourcenext version.
At the end of June, the original Resident Evil trilogy became available digitally on PC for the first time – versions with support for modern OS were released on GOG. Fans may also be interested in a mod for alphaZomega’s Resident Evil 2 remake, which allows you to play the entire game with a fixed camera.
In July, Capcom officially confirmed the production of Resident Evil 9 and revealed the name of its lead developer. According to rumors, the next numbered game will have an open world and will be released no earlier than the last quarter of 2025.
