AMD has allowed the publication of reviews of desktop processors of the Ryzen 9000 series based on the Zen 5 architecture the day before their sales start. Earlier it became known that AMD postponed the start of sales of new chips from July 31 to August.
Sales of the Ryzen 5 9600X and Ryzen 7 9700X processors will begin on August 8. In turn, the older models Ryzen 9 9900X and Ryzen 9 9950X are expected to be on sale from August 15. Thus, the first reviews of the younger models can be expected on August 7, and the older ones on August 14. This was reported by the HardwareUnboxed YouTube channel.
AMD delayed the launch of the Ryzen 9000 because they “didn’t live up to expectations.” Exactly why the processors did not live up to expectations and how the company plans to resolve this issue in just two to three weeks is unknown. On the other hand, reviewers will have more time to test new chips. Especially considering that many of them still have not received test samples.
As for the latest Ryzen AI 300 mobile processors based on Zen 5 architecture, their sales are expected to start at the end of this week. Probably, the first reviews of laptops based on these chips will appear at the same time.
