Xiaomi SU7 Ultra electric sports cars will begin mass production in the first half of 2025

Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun announced that the recently introduced Xiaomi SU7 Ultra electric sports car will go on sale in the first half of 2025. The official presentation of an electric car with three engines, which allow the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.97 seconds, took place last week.

The head of Xiaomi confirmed that the production version of the SU7 Ultra will be equipped with the same battery pack, three engines (two V8s and one V6) and chassis as the prototype. However, the body of the electric car will not be completely carbon, which will keep the cost reasonable. Buyers will be able to choose between two trim levels of the car: standard and track.

The Xiaomi electric car uses its own HyperEngine V8s engines with a capacity of 578 horsepower, which produces 635 Nm of torque. The total power of the three power plants is an impressive 1,548 horsepower, which is higher than that of the most powerful sports cars. The SU7 Ultra is capable of hitting 200 km/h in 5.96 seconds and has a top speed of 350 km/h.

The power source for the sports car was a Qilin 2.0 battery from CATL with an operating voltage of 900 V, which, even at 20% charge, can produce up to 880 kW of power, and at full charge – up to 1330 kW. According to the source, the battery can be charged in just 12 minutes.

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype will challenge the famous Nürburgring track in Germany this fall. In October, the Chinese electric car will try to break the track record held by the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, which is considered the world’s fastest four-door production electric car on a circuit.

As for the retail price of the SU7 Ultra, it has not yet been announced. Let us remind you that the SU7 electric car is available in Standard, Pro and Max trim levels. The price of the SU7 starts at $29,500 and in June more than 10 thousand copies of the car were sold on the Chinese market. Xiaomi plans to reach 120 thousand SU7 units sold by the end of the year. Regarding the SU7 Ultra, Lei Jun said that the price will be “a little higher, but still within reach.”
