Cadillac showed the concept of a luxury electric convertible Sollei

Creators of electric vehicles traditionally pay increased attention to improving aerodynamics, and in this sense, a convertible is not the most optimal body type in terms of air resistance. Nevertheless, there are automakers who want, if not to establish serial production of electric convertibles, then at least to attract attention by demonstrating concepts.

The Cadillac brand did just that the day before, presenting the Sollei electric convertible concept. In press photographs, the car appears with the top down, so it is impossible to understand exactly how the roof folding mechanism is implemented, how it affects the silhouette of the electric car from an aerodynamic point of view and how much it protects from external noise.

With its proportions, the Cadillac Sollei predictably quotes the classics of the American automobile industry, and in the interior decoration one can see hints of luxury in the form of seat backs trimmed in wood at the back. The car has a strictly four-seater design; access to the interior, if you don’t fantasize about acrobatic stunts, is through two long doors with frameless glass, which also lack handles on the outside, although such flirting with aerodynamics seems unnecessary for a convertible.

For now, this is purely a concept, and there is no certainty that the car will ever reach production. So far, only the electric convertible GranCabrio Folgore of the Maserati brand has reached it, but even without taking into account the type of power plant, cars with this type of body remain quite rare on the roads. The Genesis brand of the Korean concern Hyundai has also flirted with similar ideas.
