The Kommersant publication, citing four informants, reported that the Cyberia Nova (Troubles) studio had received another subsidy from the Internet Development Institute (IRI) – now for finalizing the Time of Troubles educational application.
Let us remind you that “Time of Troubles” is an interactive tour of Moscow at the beginning of the 17th century, but the developers also plan to add Nizhny Novgorod, Yaroslavl and a certain fourth location to the guide.
According to Kommersant, the amount of the new subsidy from Iran for Cyberia Nova is up to 100 million rubles (the organization allocated about 500 million rubles for Troubles). The money will go towards the aforementioned expansion of Time of Troubles. The development period is one and a half years.
«The idea of an interactive history lesson, apparently, is interesting to Iran, taking into account the fact that it is also associated with a widely publicized series of lectures by [blogger] Klim Zhukov on the history of the Time of Troubles,” said Kommersant’s interlocutor at the media market.
Kommersant’s sources note that “Time of Troubles” did not receive any serious criticism (except for technical problems at launch) and in terms of historical realism it surpasses foreign analogues like “Interactive Tour” from Assassin’s Creed.
One of Kommersant’s interlocutors called “Smuta” the flagship project of Iran, which at release “was technically unfinished,” but there is potential. VK Play reported that the game was “selling above expectations” (they did not name specific indicators).
An informant for Kommersant on the media market added that the issue of further support for the game will depend on the implementation of the subsidy by the developers of Smuta: “The contract ends at the end of this year.”
