In anticipation of the next presentation of Rockstar Games’ ambitious open-world crime thriller Grand Theft Auto VI, the game’s debut trailer set an impressive record.
Let us remind you that at the start the video set a record for the number of views (90.4 million) and likes (8.9 million) in the first 24 hours among game trailers, and also became the most viewed non-musical video in history in the first 24 hours.
In mid-December, 11 days after the premiere, the debut trailer for GTA VI reached 150 million views. It took another six and a half months to conquer the next big thing in video.
As noted by the Game Rant portal, seven months and eight days after the premiere, on July 13, 2024, the first and so far only GTA VI trailer exceeded 200 million views on YouTube.
For comparison, the first trailer for GTA V received 111.5 million views in almost 12 years. Achieving this figure was also helped by a surge of interest amid the release of the following pre-release videos, which GTA VI did not have yet.
The ResetEra forum also noted that views of one debut trailer for GTA VI exceed the total result (about 165 million) of all Red Dead Redemption 2 videos from the official Rockstar YouTube channel.
GTA VI will be released in the fall of 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X and S. Events will unfold in the state of Leonidas, and players will take on the role of criminals Jason and Lucia. They promise “the largest and most believable world” in the history of the series.
