Laptops based on AMD Ryzen AI 300 processors, codenamed Strix Point, should go on sale this month. In addition to the latest Zen 5 cores and an improved XDNA 2 neural engine with AI performance of up to 50 TOPS (trillion operations per second), these processors feature new integrated Radeon 800M graphics based on RDNA 3.5 architecture. The latter is an improved version of the RDNA 3 architecture with optimized performance and energy efficiency.

The new RDNA 3.5 graphics architecture offers improved performance per watt for common graphics shader operations, as well as improved performance per bit for compute operations by reducing memory access requirements. In addition, the new architecture is optimized for increased battery life.

Key features of the AMD RDNA 3.5 architecture are doubling the game texture sampling rate, doubling the interpolation and comparison rates, improved memory handling – improved batch processing to reduce memory access latency, compression methods, reduced load and optimized access to LPDDR5 memory.

In the 3DMark TimeSpy test, the Radeon 800M graphics on the new RDNA 3.5 architecture shows a 32 percent advantage over the Radeon 700M at the same power consumption of 15 W. In the Night Raid test, the new “integration” is 19% faster than its predecessor.

AMD did not provide performance data for RDNA 3.5 directly in games. Instead, the company showed graphs of the overall performance of the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor in games and workloads, comparing them with the results of the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H and Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite (X1E-84-100) processors.

According to AMD, in work tasks the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 demonstrates an advantage of up to 1.3 times compared to competitors, in creating digital content the new AMD chip is up to 3.8 times more efficient, and in games it is up to 1.65 times faster.

The release of Ryzen AI 300 processors is expected on July 28.
