Microsoft has announced that it has fixed a known issue that some users experienced after installing the Windows 11 23H2 update, which resulted in cyclical reboots of the operating system and problems with the taskbar. Because of this bug, the software giant was forced to suspend distribution of the Windows 11 23H2 update. A patch to fix the bug was released on July 9.
The Windows 11 reboot loop issue has affected those using virtual machines and other virtualization tools such as CloudPC, DevBox, and Azure Virtual Desktop. Some users have also reported problems with VMware virtual machines. Many users were unhappy that a problematic update that caused the OS to reboot cyclically was installed without their consent, since the package was forced by Microsoft. The only way to avoid installing the update involves disabling the Windows Update service or turning off the Internet on the PC.
Since the problem with Windows 11 cyclic reboots has been resolved, Microsoft has already resumed distribution of the Windows 11 23H2 update. However, the package remains blocked for devices running virtualization software. After the patch is distributed, you should expect that Windows 11 23H2 will continue to be force-installed on all compatible devices.
Released on July 9, the patch also fixes a problem with the taskbar that resulted in the taskbar not loading after installing the Windows 11 23H2 update. After installing the mentioned patch, the taskbar will load correctly.
At the same time, there remains an issue due to which the Photos application may not load if the BlockNonAdminUserInstall function is activated. This issue affects PCs that have updated the Photos app through the Windows Store starting on June 4, 2024.
