A team of former Helldivers 2, Battlefield, World of Warcraft and Age of Conan developers have teamed up to create games together at Blue Scarab Entertainment. The debut project of the new company is already in production.
Blue Scarab was led by CEO Colin Cragg, a former Age of Conan producer, and former DICE creative director Craig Morrison, who became director of the studio.
Blue Scarab Entertainment has already managed to attract more than $7 million in investments. The biggest investors in the new company were NetEase and Behold Ventures, as well as Raw Fury founder Jonas Antonsson.
Blue Scarab’s first project will be a story-driven MMORPG set in a completely new universe. Players will be able to ride on horseback to discover a beautiful open world and, together with others, uncover a dark secret.
They promise “a unique mixture of cozy escapism and true crime” (a genre in which the author explores criminal crimes – approx.), a new gaming experience for a wide audience and graphics on the Unreal Engine 5.
«Our task is to use all the expertise accumulated by our team to create new experiences for the widest possible audience. We want to challenge the expectations of the genre, using all the skills and experience of the team we have assembled,” said Morrison.
Blue Scarab is based in Stockholm and takes a hybrid approach to working with the ability to work remotely. Currently, the studio requires specialists from various fields, including artists and designers.
