Developers from the Belgian Larian Studios have revealed new details of the seventh major patch for their fantasy role-playing game Baldur’s Gate 3, including its place in post-release support for the project.
On July 22, a closed beta of the upcoming update will begin on Steam. Registration is open – you can submit an application (the “Request Access” button) on the game page in the Valve service. The patch itself is still planned for release in September.
As part of beta testing, developers want to test planned fixes, improvements and innovations on different PC configurations and save files. With this they need the help of ordinary users.
The two main features of the seventh patch will be the expansion of “evil” endings (for Dark Seduction, other characters with backstory and unique heroes) and tools for modding (currently going through a closed “alpha”).
In addition, the developers talked about other improvements in the update:
Larian assured that the seventh patch will not be the last for Baldur’s Gate 3. In the future, the team promises cross-play, photo mode, bug fixes, gameplay innovations and optimization improvements: “We are not saying goodbye yet.”
Baldur’s Gate 3 left early access on PC (Steam, GOG) last August, and has since appeared on Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X and S. 11 months after its release, the project continues to receive Game of the Year awards.
