Google Vids app will be able to quickly create video presentations using Gemini AI

Google is launching a new app called Vids for creating video presentations using artificial intelligence. Available within the Workspace Labs platform, you can create video content as easily as you create PowerPoint slides.

Vids lets you combine documents, slides, voiceovers, and videos on a timeline to create presentation videos that you can share with colleagues. Accessing the app through Workspace Labs allows Workspace administrators to enable this feature for users who want to try out the AI-enabled video editor.

As The Verge notes, Vids should not be confused with tools like OpenAI’s Sora, which can create realistic videos based on text queries. Vids focuses on creating presentations using the Gemini AI assistant, which generates content based on the user’s description, but with the ability to edit it later.

Users can also start working on a presentation manually by choosing from a variety of templates. In addition, the app provides access to a free library of stock images and videos to enhance and diversify the content you create.

However, the main feature of Vids, as shown in the demo video, is the ability to use Gemini to automatically insert stock footage, generate a script, and even create an AI voiceover for a presentation without having to record your own voice.
