Dating service Tinder has announced the launch of a new artificial intelligence-based feature that should make it easier for users to choose their best photos. We are talking about the Photo Selector tool, with which it will be easier to select the most successful pictures, creating a diverse selection of photos.
To use Photo Selector, the user needs to take a selfie through Tinder and give the algorithm access to the photos stored on the device. The algorithm will then use facial recognition to select photos that it thinks are best suited to post on your Tinder profile. It is noted that all actions are performed on the user’s device, and personal photos are not uploaded to a remote server.
Tinder said in a statement that the new feature should help users focus on “creating meaningful connections” and save time when building profiles. The service conducted a study involving 7,000 people aged 18 to 25 years, during which it was found that choosing a profile photo takes on average 33 minutes. The new feature is designed to reduce this process to a minimum so that users can spend more time communicating.
The Photo Selector feature will be available in the Tinder app for Android and iOS devices. Its distribution in the United States will begin this month, and by the end of summer the function will be available to all users of the service.
